Time Flies...

Wow. Every year, though I ought to be used to it by now, the months of January and February just FLY by. I always anticipate this "calm after the storm" when the holiday season has ended...but for some reason, a different kind of insanity ensues. At least I can say this- boredom is never a problem, and those of you who know me well, know that I hate to be bored... so I guess this is a good thing.

Nonetheless, I have quite a bit of catch-up to play here on the blog! I'll start from December and work my way forward here...

I posted pictures of the Herrick Christmas party, but here are some from our Christmas up north with mom, Jen and Justin (Gramma and Grampa visited the Colorado grandkids this year, and Carlos went to be w/his fam in Mexico). We were there for about 5 days and had a wonderful visit.

The view from mom's picture window- the river is always so beautiful. Changes so much with the seasons, but always makes me feel at home.

This one came out a bit dark, but it's Ben and I on Christmas Eve, just before heading to the church service. We did a duet (Ben singing, me playing flute) of "Angels We Have Heard on High". First time we've ever "performed" together like that, it was a really neat experience for both of us.

Ben and I went cross country skiing on Chrsitmas day. First time Ben had done it. Advantage of living in the middle of nowhere: skiing in your back yard. =) We had a great time.

We all went together to buy Guitar Hero for Ben for Christmas. He was SO excited!! =)

The other exciting Christmas thing was telling our families that Ben and I are EXPECTING!!! Since Ben's parents and my grandparents were out of state, we told them over the phone. It was so much fun to hear their reactions. We told my mom when I presented Ben with one of my old baby dolls, in front of mom, and told him he'd better start practicing diapers, since he only had 8 more months to figure it out. We had to point the 8 months part out to mom a couple times, and when she got it her eyes kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger. It was SO fun.

So, the scoop with Baby Herrick is this: My due date is August 20, 2009. As of this posting, we are in week 15 and my early symptoms (nausea, etc) are starting to become less frequent. We've had 2 OB visits, including an early ultra sound, and will be hearing the heartbeat with the doppler next week Wednesday (March 4). We are both thrilled beyond belief! We are planning a Winnie the Pooh nursery in what used to be Ben's Star Wars room (which has been relegated now to the basement). Here is the ultra sound picture that the technician sent home with us. It's at 10 weeks.

There's the little peanut... who wiggled and squiggled all the way through the ultra sound! Just amazing... and made it all feel so real to us. We can't believe we are going to be parents!!! =)

I guess that's the update for now! Hopefully I'll do better at posting once March hits and things really DO slow down a smidge for us.

Take care, all! Much love from all THREE of us. =)
